Mount Snow, VT – December/January 2002 – ’03 – “Operation Phoenix”

Tom stays overnight in Stamford to begin the festivities with a night of drinking...Colt .45s and Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast...Ranch One for lunch before leaving...Tom grabs Michael Jackson's "Moonwalk" from someone giving away books in Jim's apartment building...first trip in the Lexus RX300...Tom officially christens the vehicle as “Lex Luthor”...major traffic on the way through Connecticut...Tom and Jim decide that the Papa Roach album is just plain terrible...traditional Taco Bell/KFC stop...drive to the mountain at night...”village” is scary dead...Snow Lake Lodge is very old with very thin walls, ok it’s a shit hole...very easy transfer of lift tickets...poptarts...Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles...Tom is surprised out of his mind when Pete and Jen show up...sleep on air mattress between the two beds...dramatic readings of "Moonwalk"...Pete’s snoring keeps Tom up all night...”Mooover”, cow-patterned buses...good snow...Tom accidentally grabs the wrong set of “Goode” poles (15cm’s too small)...buys replacement poles, which Jim officially christens as the “Lame Scott Poles” (Tom, are you talking about your lame Scott poles again?)...Pete and Jen get lost on the way to the base for lunch...Tom and Jim try and hold the table for 45 minutes until they get kicked out and almost get the poor, cute waitress fired...good clam chowder...oyster crackers...extended afternoon lunch for beers and the Giants/Eagles game at Cuzzin’s...entertainment by Bruce Jacques (the guy is nuts)...not being able to ski Ripcord because it was closed...monster kickers in the terrain park (from the X-Games)...ice runs to chill the beers in the garbage cans...Tom’s ubiquitous “Phish” hat...Jim falls deathly ill and has to spend an afternoon in bed watching bad soap operas...Jim’s 5 trips to the can in one morning...using all the wet wipes...not much night-life so we created our own...Magic Hats and Otter Creeks...acoustic guitars and cold beers in the trash can...cool old-time Haystack memorabilia...Pringles and Ruffles as sustenance...the slowest table service we’ve ever seen...Jen helping us wait on ourselves...Debuting the new Creeper Gin songs... crazy New Year’s Eve at the Snow Barn...good bands...plenty of drink...outrageous hangovers
